“You should listen…”

Once upon a time, not too long ago, a former student I taught suggested that I lend an ear to a singer that she believed I would enjoy listening to. Promising her that I would give it a try(one day) wasn’t enough. To make certain that I followed through with my vow, I had to listen to the song in her presence. I must admit, I had serious trepidations about the musical journey we were about to take. What I discovered was that the musical voyage was a very pleasant trip to undertake.

The singer who I had the pleasure to listen to was Laufey (pronounced Lay-vay) an outstanding singer and musician. Laufey has established her success since the early part of the 2020s but she’s been performing well over a decade. She has released two CDs but the one I was introduced to was Bewitched. The single From the Start immediately caught my attention. It is a delicate combination of soft Bossa Nova and cool Jazz.
